About PCR

Professional Counseling Resources, Inc., (PCR) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) multi-disciplinary human services agency in operation since 1989.

PCR’s Mission

PCR is dedicated to uniting faith-based organizations, community groups, schools, families and individuals in the common goal of serving children and families with the greatest need. We honor our commitment by strengthen families, faith-based and community organizations with comprehensive and innovative programs that use best practices.

PCR Programs

The primary focus of the agency has been strengthening families and communities. In recent years, PCR has sought to focus on strengthening relationships to empower communities based on the belief that healthy relationships are the building blocks of vibrant communities.

PCR has previously received funding for program areas such as teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, mentoring of youth, violence prevention, educational enhancement and capacity-building for other nonprofit organizations and churches.

Current programs include the following:

The Relationship Makeover Workshop is a Healthy Marriage Initiative in conjunction with the Collaborative Fatherhood Program (CFP). PCR’s Relationship Makeover Program is designed for adult married, engaged, romantically involved couples and fathers to help them to develop the skills to build a satisfying, stable and healthy relationship for themselves and with their children.

The Mentoring Children of Prisoners Program (MCP), sponsored by PCR, is a Mid-Atlantic Faith-Based Mentoring Collaborative program in the state of Delaware . The program provides mentoring services to children (ages 4-18) who live in the state of Delaware with a parent currently or formerly incarcerated, on probation or on parole. PCR’s mentoring programs focus on one-to-one mentoring relationships that promote fun while learning.

The Capacity-Building Program for nonprofit organizations and churches is a Collaborative Capacity-Building Initiative of Delaware, that is spearheaded by Professional Counseling Resources, Inc. and funded by the Compassion Capacity Fund (CCF). The Capacity-Building Program was created to help faith-based and nonprofit organizations prosper. The program provides training and funding opportunities to eligible organizations to increase their infrastructure, bolster their effectiveness, enhance the sustainability of their programs and build the resources and skill of their staff and volunteers in order to serve people and the community more effectively.

Funding for PCR projects is provided by the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Family Assistance: MCP Grant #90CV0340, CFP Grant #90FR0046 and CCF Grant # 90EJ0087.
